Description:1907 Ed Walsh autographed Chicago White Sox player's contract counter signed by Charles Comiskey and Ban Johnson: One of the earliest Hall of Fame examples ever offered. Original American League issued player's contract as executed between the Chicago White Sox and Hall of Famer Ed Walsh covering his terms of employment for the 1907 season. Walsh had made his debut with the team in 1904 and appeared in a handful of games through 1905. He took on a more regular role in 1906 and by 1907 was a full time member of their pitching rotation. He lead the American League in ERA that year (1.60) and threw for (422.1) innings. He would again surpass the (400) innings pitched mark the following year and is the last pitcher in history to reach that level. This all offered a glimpse of what was to come and his career (1.816) ERA is a Major League record which stands to this day. Contract is dated February 19, 1907 and called for a salary of $2,700. It is signed "Edward A. Walsh" by the player with team owner Charles Comiskey likewise adding his autograph just above. An additional signature of Ban Johnson, then American League President, appears on the back. All are done in fountain pen rating 8 out of 10 or better. Light toning and handling wear with typical folds.
