Description: Rare 1889 Worchester Gray large format team photograph with Jesse Burkett. Rare team photograph offering exceptional clarity shows members of the Atlantic Association Worchester team including future Hall of Famer Jesse Burkett. Others whom would ultimately make Major League rosters include Bill Annis, Dick Conway, Jim Cudworth, Law Daniels, John Meister, Ted Scheffler, General Stafford, and Tug Wilson. The 12"x9.25" image remains on its' original 17"x14" mount which has "Anderson, The Hatter" advertising printed on along with the team name, year, and player names and positions. Burkett is noted as a pitcher, a position at which he enjoyed great success in 1889 winning an impressive (39) games. Signed to the New York Giants for the following season he flopped on the mound and was shifted to the outfield which allowed him a roster spot. He would flourish as a hitter, now regarded as one of the best of his time, and go on to bat (.338) lifetime including (3) seasons in which he hit (.400). Photographic portion displays light toning with one slightly more pronounced vertical streak. Mount has likewise toned and has areas of chipping/loss and some small cracks. It has been stabilized on the back along two edges with conservators tape. Exceedingly scarce and possibly a unique survivor: Photo EX, Mount FR
