Description: Outstanding 1887 Detroit Wolverines large format team cabinet photograph: Championship season. Important photograph showcasing the 1887 National League Championship team which included Hall of Famers Dan Brouthers, Ned Hanlon, Sam Thompson, and Deacon White. They would go on to face the American Association Champion St. Louis Browns whom they defeated (10) games to (5) to claim a Championship title in an early incarnation of the World Series. Image quality is superb, especially with note to the difficulty in producing a photograph of this size in the late 1800s, with players shown in lifelike clarity. Mount (16"x20") has a "Tomlinson" mark printed on along with player names and "Detroit Base Ball Club" titling. There is some toning/spotting to the central portion, surface wear, some chipping/loss to the mount, and a tear/break to the top right (extending about 2" from the edge).
