Lot Number: 363

Description: Pete Rose autographed 1970 World Series professional model baseball bat (PSA "GU 8"). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Rose facsimile signature in the barrel measures 36" long and weighs 32.8oz. Model number "S222" is factory stamped in the knob. "1970 World Series" block lettering above Rose's impressed name denotes that it was produced specifically for use in that event. The season marked an important turning point for the Cincinnati Reds; it was the dawn of the "Big Red Machine" era and they would dominate the National League for much of the decade to follow. Although they lost to the Baltimore Orioles Rose performed admirably hitting his first post-season home run. He would help power the Reds to (3) more National League titles and a pair of Championship in the coming years. The bat is uncracked with evidence of light use as expected given the intended purpose. Ordering records indicate that only (2) model S222 bats were shipped to Rose for use in the Series and the included PSA letter relays that the offered example is believed to have resided in a private collection from 1970 through the year 2000. Signed "Pete Rose" in marker rating 9/10 out of 10. Includes auction LOA from JSA and LOA from PSA (graded "GU 8"): EX
