Description:Johnny Bench autographed professional model cleats c.1977 (Bench provenance). Pair of Rawlings Fleetfoot cleats show considerable use with wear throughout. Each has the number "5" written on the tongue in vintage black marker and both have been signed "Johnny Bench" in similar area. Both the numbers and autographs have faded over the years with the signatures now rating approx. 6-6/7 out of 10. Includes a copy of a handwritten and signed letter from Bench himself (on Reds stationary) in which he thanks the recipient for their participation in an auction (presumably a charity event) and encloses both the offered cleats and a glove stating that "they were used by me and only me during the 1977 Major League season." A note written across the top of this copy says "Original With Glove" explaining why it was not kept with these cleats. Bench had another stellar season in 1977 hitting (31) home runs and earning a Gold Glove for his defensive play. Includes auction LOA from JSA, LOA from Hunt Auctions, and aforementioned copy of the Bench handwritten and signed letter: EX
