Description: Fine Willie Mays professional model baseball bat c.1970 (PSA/DNA GU 9.5). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Mays block lettered in the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 33.1oz. Model number "R43" is factory stamped in the knob along with what the included PSA letter relays are "vestiges" of what may be a faded red "24" notation. Outstanding use is evident throughout including deeply embedded ball and stitch marks along with some black ink transfer marks and green and blue rack streaks. Nice coat of pine tar remains on the handle which has an expertly repaired crack. The bat can be traced to orders shipped to Mays in 1970 specifically. He was then in twilight of his storied career and would add (28) home runs to an already impressive career total that season.
