Description: Fine April 21, 1909 Opening Day Imperial Size panoramic photograph. Wonderful and expansive image of the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Athletics lined up on the field in Boston before the Opening game of the 1909 season. Players incl. Bender, Plank, Baker, Collins, and Speaker. Appropriate to the era a marching band is positioned between the two teams with instruments at the ready. Huge 10”x 70” size matted and framed ranks as one of the largest we’ve handled and is only the second example of this image that we’ve encountered. Marked Falk photo., Boston at lower right presenting in clean overall condition with the exception of a small 3” tear at far left border and a 11” repaired tear at far rt. border neither of which affect the central image or the integrity of the photo: EX-EX/MT (With note to tears)
