Description: Willie Mays Decade of Sports Hickok Award (Mays Collection photo match). Prestigious award titled after the S.Rae Hickok namesake as given to Mays in recognition of being named as the Player of the Decade from 1950-60 in the sport of baseball. The award is a diminutive version of the more notable yearly award (Mays received in 1954) which was constructed of solid gold with precious stones. This example features a leather figural belt with sterling silver figural ornament affixed to the front engraved with the Hickock Award titling and "Decade of Sports 1950-60". Two small silver placards flank the central ornament with "Willie Mays" and "Baseball" engraved, respectively. Few minor imperfections to the walnut wooden plaque presenting in very fine overall condition. Includes vintage matte finish 8"x10" photograph picturing Mays posed with the award and other sports recipients from the award ceremony which also comes directly from Mays' personal collection.
