Description: Willie Mays Most Outstanding Player of the 1954 Season award plaque (NL MVP Season)(World Championship Season). Walnut wooden plaque as given to Mays by the People of Newark, NJ and Schenley Distiller at a banquet on February 22, 1955 honoring Mays for his outstanding play in 1954. Brass shield shaped placard at top with baseball batter graphic above "To Willie Mays of the New York Giants" inscription with a larger brass placard at bottom having tiling and date. Light to moderate surface wear overall with a few scratches. Very attractive early career award dating to Mays' finest season.
