Description: Unique 1951 Willie Mays Rookie of the Year presentational certificate (NL Rookie of the Year Season) Framed presentational certificate as given to Mays in recognition of having been named as the National League Rookie of the Year for the 1951 season. The certificate is hand stenciled on parchment style paper with hand tinted titling to Mays. It is dated as being presented to Mays in Birmingham, Alabama on October 28, 1951 with three period signatures of legendary musicians Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, and Sarah Vaughn. The autographs themselves are secretarially signed with the certificate likely issued during the "Biggest Show of 51'" tour which the trio performed in late 1951. Expected minor age toning with a few surface wrinkles housed in its apparent original frame. This particular piece was greatly cherished by Willie Mays having occupied a place of prominent display within his home and noted as one of the earliest dated pieces within the collection.
