Description: Willie Mays Fairfield Industrial High School graduation photograph c.1950. Matted and framed 9"x12" portrait photograph picturing a young Willie Mays posed in his cap and gown high school graduation ensemble. The image is printed on thick stock photographic board with light hand colored tint. Back of photo has several hand written production notations presumably by the photography studio including eye color, shirt color, and the like along with the Birmingham, Alabama photography studio stamp. Overall appearance is quite pleasing with a pronounced crease at top left in addition to some expected surface crazing and a few other smaller border creases not visible under its oval matting. This very photograph, along with the high school diploma also in this auction, was prominently displayed in Willie Mays' personal office at his home outside San Francisco and was undoubtedly held in special regard as such.
