Description: UPDATED DESCRIPTION: 1968 Willie Mays National League Gold Glove Award. Prestigious figural award as presented annually to the premier defensive players of the National and American League by position. Walnut wooden plinth base displays a full-size gilt-painted Rawlings leather glove with “National League All-Star Fielding Team” impressed black lettering. Glove is positioned atop a central pedestal with applied image of Mays on brass facade with two gilt painted baseballs perched on metal pedestals flanking. Brass placard displayed on front of base inscribed, “OF Willie Mays 11th Award 1968 The Sporting News National League All-Star Fielding Team”. 16” long remaining in exceptional overall condition showing minimal light surface wear. Brass placard affixed to the base has some light wear to the impressed lettering and one tiny indentation. The leather baseballs have had a few areas of inpainting due to age toning.
