Description: Exceptional and Likely Unique Willie Mays Trenton photograph attributed to June 24, 1950 MLB Affiliated Debut: Earliest Type I photo of Mays authenticated by PSA/DNA (PSA/DNA Type I). Original 5"x7" black and white candid image picturing a notably youthful Willie Howard Mays Jr. posed in the dugout with two other players. The image displays superlative clarity and registration capturing an undoubtedly jubilant young Mays preparing to begin his Major League Baseball career. The back of the photo is stamped by Charles Miles photographer of Hagerstown, MD importantly with a handwritten date of "June 24, 1950". This date corresponds to Mays' first appearance as a Trenton player as played in Hagerstown, MD. Overall condition is outstanding with minimal visible wear. We are not able to document the existence of another copy of this image and is noted by PSA/DNA to be the earliest Type I image of Mays authenticated to date. The importance of the offered image cannot be overstated with the additional emphasis as having been carefully preserved within Willie Mays personal collection.
