Description: 1964 Willie Mays National League Home Run Champion "Mel Ott Memorial Award". Significant presentational piece has been bestowed by the National League on their leading home run hitter annually since 1959. Ebonized black painted wooden plaque with embossed medallion having a relief image of Ott that is captioned, "Mel Ott Memorial Award Home Run Championship National League." Below is an engraved sterling silver placard reading "Award to Willie Mays San Francisco Giants 47 Home Runs 1964". Touch of light surface wear to the medallion and placard with small area of chipping to the back of the top left corner mentioned for accuracy only. Dieges & Clust manufacturer's labeling affixed to the back. Mays slugged his way to a total of four National League home run crowns with the offered Mel Ott award being the second of three of its type received during his career. One of a select few examples of this highly prestigious award to have entered the marketplace.
