Description:High quality William Read & Sons catchers' mitt with concealed pocket c.1910s-20s. Left hand black leather mitt appears to have been done at the highest level of quality and there is a "William Read & Sons" sewn on tag. July, 1914 patent date is stamped on the wrist strap. The palm area has a small compartment which closes with (3) snaps and certainly gives the appearance of an space in which something would have been purposefully concealed. This is a unique feature we have not seen on other gloves. Mild use and some general related wear: VG-EX
