The award is the most coveted individual player accolade at the collegiate basketball level and was won by Walton three times; a record he shares with Ralph Sampson. Handsome three tiered figural trophy stands ???" tall with columnar supports terminating at a pedestal that presents a silverplated loving cup with large basketball player finial. Several engraved silverplated placards are affixed to the base and pedestal facade, respectively, with award titling and Walton's name. The trophy presents in outstanding original condition with the exception of the hand and basketball portion of the finial that have been expertly restored not visible to any level of impactful discernability. Three original 8"x10" black and white photographs taken in March of 1972 picturing Walton receiving the offered trophy from then Governor of Georgia Jimmy Carter. One of the more significant collegiate sports awards to have been offered to the collecting public with direct provenance to an iconic NCAA basketball legend.
