Lot Number: 156

Description: Grateful Dead autographed stage used Zildjian cymbal inscribed to Bill Walton. Zildjian "China Boy Low" (20") cymbal has been signed by Jerry Garcia (inscribed "Hey Bill! Beat This"), Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, and Brent Mydland. Marker signatures rate 7-7/8 out of 10. Housed in a tasteful 22"x22" shadowbox as displayed in the Walton home and there is some visible use and age related wear (including several streaks of oxidation). The frame has been opened to inspect that back and we can relay that there is a handwritten 'Walton" marker notation and it is mounted with adhesive that could likely be removed if so desired. Walton's ties to the noted band are legendary and after attending his first show in 1971 he became a prominent fixture on their circuit and would go to hundreds in all (upwards of 850 by his own account). His close personal friendships with Jerry Garcia and Company are well known. Substantive pieces of this nature should be considered extremely rare and there are relatively few known in comparison to more commonly seen (albeit still scarce) band signed photographs, programs, and other flat items. One of the premier music related pieces within the Walton Collection and one which presented to him by the band themselves. Includes full LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the Walton Family: Overall EX
