Description: Archive of material from the famed Shibe family including Reach factory vise and tools. Interesting group of pieces has descended within the Shibe Family whom are well known for their long standing ownership in the Philadelphia Athletics and partnership in Reach Sporting Goods. Includes an important early baseball stitching vise (done in cast iron) believed to have been used in the A.J. Reach and Co. factory in which Ben Shibe was a partner. By the late 1800s the firm was producing over 1,000,000 baseballs per year; set of drafting tools in case and a pair of awls, razor, and folding ruler; vintage spools of red and white thread; Monte Cross Testimonial Dinner marked souvenir mini-ball and a mini Reach B.Johnson OAL ball; 1929 and 1930 World Series programs (cover off 1929 and showing heavy chipping/wear); 1929 A-s A.L. Champions publication; (4) 1936-47 A-s scorecards and (1) 1949 Phillies (plus a number of Phillies/A-s related ticket stubs; 1952 Shibe Park press pass; 1944 FDR appearance at Shibe Park ticket; and others (some pieces being more modern).
