Description: Rare Earl Averill professional model baseball bat c.1943-45. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Averill facsimile signature burned into the barrel measures 34" long and weighs 32oz. Model number "A1" is factory stamped into the knob from the time of production. The bat was later used and returned to the factory and vault marked "S175" on either end. The original side writing has faded from view but it is likely that a teammate of Averill's, who was then playing in the Pacific Coast League, was responsible for it's return to Louisville Slugger (an description of the bat written over 15 years ago states that at the time the letter "S" could be noted in the first name). Mild evident usage wear includes a repaired crack and large chip missing from the knob and lower handle. A rare Hall of Famer model and only the third we have ever offered.
