Lot Number: 58

Description: Fine Willie Mays professional model baseball bat with outstanding provenance c.1973 (Final MLB season with New York Mets) (MEARS "A8.5"). Adirondack 302 model bat with Mays facsimile signature on the barrel end measures 35" long and weighs 33.6oz. Model number "M63" had been factory stamped in the knob which has a small "34" notation placed there at the time of manufacture to denote weight. In addition, there is a desirable vintage "24" player number written on in period marker. Uncracked with light general usage wear evident throughout. An included letter of provenance relays that the bat was obtained from Mays in the Shea Stadium locker room following a Mets game. It was given to a representative of All-Star Game ring supplier Linde Star Rings for whom Willie had done some advertising in exchange for duplicate rings that he intended to give to Family members. A choice and well documented example dating to the Hall of Famer's final season in the Major Leagues. Includes letter of provenance and LOAs from Hunt Auctions and MEARS (graded "A8.5"): EX
