Description:Rare c.1880s St. Louis Browns “Petite Panel” cabinet card.
Rare early view showing a pair of uniformed members of the St. Louis Browns American Association team. Player on the right has “St. Louis” lettered across the front of his jersey and wears a striped cap which is consistent with the style employed by team c.1885-86. The Browns were a powerhouse of the era claiming a pennant in 1885 and Championship in 1886. Note that uniform styles from this time period were fluid and the piece could date slightly earlier or later. Fine image quality with some minor fading but all aspects remain readily defined. Touch of wear to the mount which includes an erased pencil notation on back. Measures 1.75”x3.25”. Fantastic and highly sought after early image of professional players during baseballs’ formative years: GD
