Ruth has signed the photo in very bold black fountain pen rating a 10 out of 10. The photo originated from Hawaii and has been in the original family since its' signing, includes xerox copies of news articles and the like relating to Ruth's trip to Hawaii. Presented to a 6th grader named Bruce Weil whose parents were acquainted with Ruth and had visited Ruth in the hospital at which point he signed (2) baseballs among which is the offered ball. See a Picture of this Item 643 Significant April 30, 1930 New York Yankees payroll check to Babe Ruth. Full check issued to Ruth for the amount of $7,649.92 which amounts to payment for the first (16) days of play in the 1930 season. Ruth's $70,000.00 contract for years 1927, 1928, and 1929 had expired and after lengthy contract negotiations he signed on for two years at $80,000.00 at which point he was asked if he deserved to be making more money then President Hoover whose salary was $75,000.00. Ruth replied as only he could, "Why Not? I had a better year then he did." Check itself remains in fine condition and is signed by Ruppert, Barrow, and a beautiful full name "George H. Ruth" on back. Early wooden bucket that once contained coils of tobacco featuring a huge 11"x12" color litho. baseball label on front. Label depicts a full game scene with vignettes of players and equipment at corners. Bucket itself is very clean with minimal age wear and is missing orig. wooden lid (common for such buckets). Label remains incredibly complete with some staining at lower left and a few areas of light surface wrinkling with color remaining very strong overall.
