Signature is in blue fountain pen and rates a very solid 9 out of 10 with only (2) small ink smudges on left side of first name. Ball was obtained by the chairman of an American Legion baseball league who travelled with a player to the American Legion All-Star game held in Shibe Park, Phila. During the ceremonies Babe Ruth and his wife Claire walked onto the field and gave a brief but labored speech due to the fact that Ruth's throat cancer was taking hold. The gentleman had Ruth sign two baseballs for him including the offered ball. Truly one of the boldest blue fountain pen Ruth signatures we have encountered on a remarkably clean ball. Includes detailed letter of provenance from the family, color image of the other Ruth auto. ball that the family elected to keep (Not single signed), LOA from James Spence PSA/DNA, and the original ball box: Ball: NM, Signature: EX/MT-NM ($17,500.00-$25,000.00) $16,000.00
