See a Picture of this Item 423 Philadelphia Flyers Barry Ashbee retired number "4" banner that hung in Philadelphia Spectrum. When many casual fans and youngsters glance up at the Flyers' retired jersey banners in the rafters of the Wachovia Center, there is one name that seems out of place. Every Flyers fan knows of the exploits of Hall of Fame members Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent, and Bill Barber. But some may not immediately recognize the number 4 or name Barry Ashbee. Ashbee was a 31-year-old NHL rookie who played four seasons in the league and had 15 career goals and 85 career points. These modest statistics alone are clearly not enough to earn Ashbee induction into the Flyers Hall of Fame. Ashbee was posthumously awarded this honor because he was considered an everyman player who epitomized the Broad Street Bullies-era Flyers. Whatever he lacked in natural talent he made up for in work ethic and hunger to win. Ashbee was a man whose personality and playing style were deceptively rough around the edges, yet he possessed as much character as any Flyers player in history. There was nothing phony or pretentious about the guy teammates affectionately called "Ash Can." Tragically, Barry Ashbee was diagnosed with leukemia while serving the Flyers as assistant coach, and passed away in 1977. That year, the Flyers held an emotional memorial tribute at the Spectrum for Ashbee. Among the numerous steps the team took to make certain his memory lived on, was the retirement of his jersey number 4. The offered 84"x118" canvas banner hung from the rafters in the Philadelphia Spectrum until the Flyers moved to the Wachovia Center in 1996. Banner shows mild soiling, and retains excellent display quality. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX ($1,000.00-$1,500.00) $550.00

See a Picture of this Item 429 Fine Joseph "Henri" Richard Montreal Canadiens professional model sweater jersey c.1960s. Dubbed "The Pocket Rocket" in reference to his famed, and taller brother, Maurice "The Rocket" Richard, Henri Richard was an outstanding player for the Canadiens during the 1950-70s period. With an unequaled tally of eleven Stanley Cups as a player, Henri Richard and Boston Celtics HOF'er Bill Russell are the only North American sports players to have won 11 championships in their respective leagues. Offered is a very fine original wool sweater jersey retaining its original Canadiens "C" logo patch on the front along with the "A" denoting his designation as Alternate Captain (1964-71). The sweater displays Richard's number "16" on both sleeves and the back with all numerals remaining in their original condition. See a Picture of this Item 430 Maurice Richard Montreal Canadiens professional model sweater jersey c.late 1960s. Universally regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the National Hockey League, Richard compiled 544 lifetime goals and led the Canadiens to an unprecedented four straight Stanley Cup Championships at the end of his career. The wool sweater jersey retains its original Canadiens "C" logo patch on the front with Richard's number "9" on both sleeves and the back with all numerals remaining in their original condition. The material from which the Canadiens crest is made post-dates the playing career of Richard although the jersey was clearly intended for his use given the timely retiring of his uniform number. It is likely that the team prepared the shirt for an Old-Timers Day or other event honoring Richard. Heavy use is evident with surface pilling, wash wear to the numerals and patches, and general soiling/toning in appropriate usage areas.
