See a Picture of this Item 563 Johnny Beazley 1946 St. Louis Cardinals home jersey. Johnny Beazley remains today one of the more unfortunate stories in Cardinals history. Beazley stormed onto the National League scene in 1942 with an incredible record of 21-6 and an ERA of 2.13. To top off his 1942 regular season, Beazley won two games in the 1942 World Series against the New York Yankees. It appeared that he was well on his way to a fine pitching career with the Cardinals. After the 1942 season, Beazley enlisted with the Air Force during WWII. While preparing to play in an exhibition game during the War, he improperly warmed up and severely damaged his arm. Although Beazley did return to the Cardinals after the War, his arm was never the same. Home flannel jersey retains its original embroidered Cardinals logo on the front with matching red piping. Original #27 remains affixed to the back. Rawlings tag remains in the collar with "42" size tag and dry cleaning tag. "Beazley 46" is chain stitched in red onto the tail front. The jersey remains in its original condition with some general wear incl. slight separation at one area of the "7" on the back, typical minor fraying to some areas of the piping, and a vertical "cut" located at the bottom tail area of the jersey running up to the bottom of the zipper area. This "cut" appears to have been done in the period by Beazley for comfort. There are also a few minor holes, a few of which show period team repairs.
