Total of (24) black and white thick stock paper premiums featuring star players of the era including DiMaggio (SGC 50 VG/EX), Foxx (SGC 40 VG), Greenberg (SGC 40 VG), Ott, Simmons, and Feller. The set remains very clean with corners ranging from fairly sharp to sharp and clean backs. Each premium has some very light surface 'undulation' which is mentioned for accuracy only and appears to be original throughout the set. Although condition varies, all cards do have two sets of small staple holes at the top margin, possibly indicating that they were once bound together. See a Picture of this Item 549 Rare Cuban issued set of 1923-24 Tomas Gutierrez premiums c.1923-24. While individual cards from this issue are seen, the premiums are seldom offered as an intact group. The album consists of (32) 8 1/2" x 12" premiums, two composites for each of the (16) teams. Each pair has punch holes on the left side of one premium, and on the right side of the other for placement in an album, such that when the pages are turned, the entire team can be seen at once. The premiums essentially show all major leaguers in 1923 and 1924 including Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Speaker, Alexander, Sisler, Mack Frisch, McGraw, Hornsby, Stengel, plus (40) other Hall of Famers and many other obscure players. General condition remains fairly good with some general wear incl. minor edge wear, and staining. The sign has had some restoration with inpainting to the top center area, lower right corner area, and top right/left corner areas. Seldom offered complete "round" album, as commonly referred to in the hobby, features beautiful Victorian color lithographic pages depicting the star baseball players of the day, including Keefe, Welch, Ward, Anson, Connor, Comiskey, Kelly, Mutrie, and Ewing. Album contains a total of (10) interior pages, each measuring 8" in diameter, and (1) of the two original ball shaped covers. General condition is fairly good with the majority of wear occurring along the left border where the pages would have been originally string bound (missing). The chips and areas of loss to this part of each page vary from a small chip to a 1/2"x3" loss. The one cover piece that is present has some damage to the edges. The color lithography remains vibrant and bold with no restoration. Bound 8"x11" period composition style album contains (158) 19th century tobacco cards. The key grouping in the album is a complete (10) card set of 1887 Allen & Ginter N28 baseball cards. Players include Bennett, Ward, Kelly, Clarkson, Keefe, Mulvey, Anson, Glasscock, Caruthers, and Comiskey. All of the cards have been affixed to the album in the period and are removable if so desired. Card fronts range from VG-EX with Comiskey and Anson among the better condition exemplars. The album also contains Allen & Ginter boxers, Allen & Ginter Oakley and Cody cards, Duke Cigarettes 'Great Men' cards, and A&G "Birds" series. Includes James O'Neil, Hardie Henderson, Dell Darling, and E.A. Burch. The Darling card has a horizontal crease across the bottom third of the card. The other three cards remain in outstanding condition with vibrant original color and four fairly sharp to sharp corners. All four of the cards have varying degrees of adhesive residue with slight paper loss on the reverse which accounts for the technical condition grade. The card fronts remain in EX-NM condition.
