Knob end has S2 stamped along with period #21 written in dark red marker. Bat has tremendous usage incl. handle crack that extends into the centerbrand area, rack marks, evidence of handle tape removal, and barrel wear incl. cleat marks. The surface of the bat has some abrasions and the barrel end exhibits some dryness. Originally obtained from Pitt. Pirates Manager of Concessions & Advertising Myron O'Brisky. It was given to the current owner by O'Brisky before a Pirate's game in the 1950's. One of the most sought after player game bat variations and the first example that we have handled. See a Picture of this Item 713 Rare Rogers Hornsby 1962 New York Mets hat and related auto. photograph. Classic royal blue Mets hat with orange embroidered NY on the front. Interior leather band retains Tim McAuliffe tagging along with Pro KM stamp and size 7 1/2. "R.H." initials written in period ink under the bill and interior leather band has been signed by Roger Hornsby's son Bill Hornsby. Hat exhibits excellent usage wear incl. perspiration toning on interior and appropriate usage to the interior leather headband. Top of bill has some fraying from age otherwise hat is fairly clean. Originally sold by Hornsby's son Bill in a 1995 auction. Included with the hat is a fine autographed 8"x10" sepia tone photo of Hornsby standing with legendary collector Jim Armstong in his 1962 Mets uniform and is likely wearing the offered hat. Signed by Hornsby across the front rating 8/9 out of 10. Hornsby served as coach for the 1962 Mets for only that season. Superb pair of Hornsby related items with unimpeachable provenance. Striking Dodger blue hat with classic white "LA" on front having a vintage #32 written in black under the bill. Tim McAuliffe tag remains on interior leather band which also has Pro KM and size 7 1/4 stamped into the band. Hat exhibits nice usage incl. perspiration toning and appropriate buckling to the front of leather headband. Hat was obtained directly by a Dodger Stadium clubhouse employee along with a Claude Osteen game used bat (which has since been sold). It is the recollection of the employee that he obtained the hat during the 1965 season which is consistent with the fact that Osteen's first year was 1965 and Koufax retired in 1966. Sandy Koufax is revered as one of the finest pure pitchers in baseball history with the offered hat dating to the pinnacle of his career and the Dodgers glory era. Rawlings Bob Dillinger model BD RHT fielder's glove of a high quality manufacture incl. anchor web design feature. Glove has period "41" written on backstrap alongside of the red Rawlings label. Interior middle finger has been signed by Mathews in blue sharpie. Glove exhibits strong usage incl. pocket wear and general use indications throughout. Lacings at the top of the fingers have separated with some slight losses to the front. Glove was given by Mathews to Jim Jackson. Jackson's father operated "Roy Jackson's House of Hits" in Milwaukee which was frequented by the Braves players of the era. On one such occasion Eddie Mathews presented young Jackson with the offered glove. Jackson also served as the Braves substitue bat boy as evidenced by the accompanying photo of Jackson, Aaron, and Mathews. Professional quality Rawlings Bill Doak model RHT fielder's glove with various high quality features incl. double tunnel loop "I" webbing and professional model 'floating heel'. Glove exhibits strong usage but remains intact with desirable original patina. Has a small stitching repair at the back of the base at the thumb area. Originally obtained from Reese by former Major League player Roy Bruner around 1946 who was acquainted with Reese from their Louisville baseball days and then later as a friend and business partner. Bruner subsequently gave the glove to his neighbor in Louisville, KY Mr. Phil Hall. The glove has not been previously offered for sale and will include a notarized letter of provenance from Mr. Hall. Very fine early playing career exemplar from "The Captain" with impeccable provenance and is one of the few documented Reese game gloves extant. Very seldom offered oversized version of this classic image measures 17"x37" matted and framed picturing game action taken during the second game of the 1907 World Series between Detroit and Chicago. The photograph was taken from a vantage point behind the first baseline and offers a fine sweeping view of the game in progress with thousands of fans jammed into every conceivable spot within the Chicago stadium. Almost on cue from the photographer Ty Cobb is up to bat for the Tigers who led the American League in batting during the 1907 season. Clarity and contrast are quite impressive given its size for the period. Photo has a few areas within the sky that have some white spotting and one small abrasion that do not notably detract from the visuals nor integrity of the image. Leather bound album that was presented to McNair and the other Tour members with content relating to the trip. Album reads right to left per Japanese custom and retains its very scarce original leather cover with Japanese characters. Interior includes team autographed sheets for both the American and Japanese teams with beautiful ink signatures. U.S. players include Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Mack, Gomez, Berg, Gehringer, and Averill. Signatures range from 9-10 out of 10. Japanese players have signed on two different pages incl. Jimmy Horio who signed in English and Japanese. Remainder of the book contains a total of (23) original images taken during the Tour. Each photo measures 9"x11" and are mounted to cabinet mount stock album pages. Subjects include Ruth, U.S./Japanese teams, Gehrig, Mack, stadium views, and Ocean liner views. A few of the images have some creasing or corner tears. One image has a horizontal tear that has separated into two pieces but is complete. The original leather cover has some abrasions to the leather and has become loose at the spine. One of only a handful of these treasured albums extant and among them the McNair album has been the only example that we have handled that remains in its original condition including the covers.
