Rosdick" stenciled lettering on side on centerbrand area. Bat has a small knob chip and chip on end of barrel while retaining original surface. Includes period tintype of African American gentleman in what appears to be an early athletic uniform. Tintype originated from the same estate as the bat which were descendants of African American origin. See a Picture of this Item 829 Incredible 1913 "Major League Indoor Base Ball Game" with its' original mailing box. Regarded as the finest 20th century player endorsed game the offered example simply defies age with brilliant color lithographic lid featuring (16) player vignette portraits incl. Cobb, Wagner, Mathewson, Johnson, Lajoie, and Speaker. The top remains nearly as issued with the exception of a few minor (and restorable) abrasions on the lettering in the center and some typical light surface wear incl. slight age crazing and emulsion scratching. Interior is predictably well cared for including NL and AL boxed player cards, wooden game pieces, and spinner. Oak case retains its' original honey brown finish and remains intact. On its' own merit the offered game would rank among the finest in the hobby but when you add in the original shipping box with end label the argument becomes immediately stronger. Included with the game is the original corrugated fiberboard shipping box which retains its' original paper end label with game titling. Box remains remarkably clean with some age toning and typical surface/joint wear given its' fragility and age. See a Picture of this Item 853 Significant 1933 Fenway Park stadium seat contract and related documents. Original contract from the files of the Osborn Engineering Company to renovate Fenway Park in 1933. The contract called for numerous changes including new grandstand and box seating capacity, new concrete reinforced bleachers, new scoreboard, and most significantly the contractors were to remove the area in left field nicknamed "Duffy's Cliff" and construct a large concrete base with wooden railroad ties covered with a painted tin wall that would eventually become known as the Green Monster. The document was issued to Coleman Bros. who were subcontracted by Osborn to do the construction work and is signed by both William Coleman and Red Sox President Thomas Yawkey in fountain pen. Lot also includes several original receipts from "The Peabody School Furniture Co." regarding stadium seating. The new renovations sparked by Yawkey almost were not completed in time for the 1934 season as there was a large fire in January that destroyed the center field bleachers but the work was completed by April and during the 1934 season the Sox drew almost 300,000 more fans into Fenway. The telegram reads as follows, "I have been invited by Mrs. Ralph Bunche, Mr. Philip Randolph, The Reverend Dan Potter, Dr. Martin Luther King, and many other national leaders to sponsor a interracial youth march for integrated schools in Washington on October eleventh. The purpose is to dramatically express the profound sentiment of decent minded youth that integration is morally sound and has worked. Since you have been part of an integrated organization if you will join the youth and myself in marching it would be an important contribution in awakening the good conscience of Americans toward the goal of peaceful change and a democratic way of life for all-Jackie Robinson:. On the reverse of the telegram is a handwritten response by Labine who could not attend due to travel plans already arranged: EX. Lot also includes a fine original 8 1/2" x 11" image from 1956 of Clem Labine hugging Jackie Robinson after pitching a 10 inning shutout to capture Game #6 of the 1956 World Series.
