See a Picture of this Item 903 1916 Alfred J. Reach trophy. Fine quality 21" tall sterling silver weighted trophy weighing 73.4 ounces. Inscribed on front, "Presented to Alfred J. Reach by his business associates in affectionate commemoration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of his honorable and successful Mercantile Life 1866-1916". Stamped sterling by Black, Starr, & Frost under base, Alfred Reach was, of course, one of the founders of Reach Sporting Goods which was one of the dominant manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th century. One of the most prolific and popular of the 19th century baseball related board games featuring a full color lithographic baseball scene on lid. Interior has litho. playing board, painted metal baseball players in their orig. box, and wooden player pieces in their orig. box. Board is missing metal arrows to the spinners and box exterior has some notable wear incl. some chipping to lid and a few loose joints on lid and apron. Made by the Crawford-Barrett Co in Chicago, very primitive game with bold color playing field. See a Picture of this Item 912 Significant and possibly unique "Zimmer's Own Base Ball Game" c.1890's. Recently discovered in the attic of an Ohio estate the offered game possibly represents the prototype for the rarest of all baseball related board games. The 1893 "Zimmer's Base Ball Game" of which there are under five known examples was Patented on Feb. 7, 1893 and features a slightly different board layout with the most notable difference being player portrait vignettes surrounding the playing field. The example that we are auctioning is marked as "Patent Pending" and only has an image of Chief Zimmer. Overall size is 23" square retaining original walnut molded edge framing. Playing field has varying degrees of wear incl. some edge chipping and soiling, missing pitching piece. The few examples of the 1893 Zimmer game that have sold previously at auction have brought between $7,500.00 and a record price of $27,500.00 in a previous Hunt Auction, Inc. sale: VG ($1,000.00-$1,500.00) $2,800.00

See a Picture of this Item 917 Rare "Base Ball" coin operated gumball machine c.1920's. Large format wooden cased game measures 22" tall by 18" wide with a fairly elaborate skill level game. Lever is pulled and player is moved from side to side to catch ball after it is released by rotating player wheel above. Retains original paper game scene on backboard, player paper overlays of moving pieces have been restored from their originals and game remains in working order having been adjusted so that a coin is not necessary to play but rather just pulling lever dispenses gumball and starts game. Wooden cased game with cast iron decorative face plate having bat and ball decor housing an interesting electrical baseball game. Game is played by hitting a ball with a lever into various scoring receptacles that in turn light up various light bulbs based on scoring. Game has some general exterior wear and is missing door lock, game action is in working order including lights which have been wired for D sized modern batteries. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 34" long and weighs 33oz., signature model bat has Collins fasc. autograph on barrel remaining fairly bold for its' age. Handle has a 3" crack repaired with several period nails and has remains of handle tape used to cover the repair. Bat shows great evidence of game usage with some slight deadwood on back of barrel. Hillerich & Bradsby is somewhat light in areas which was common for this hard finish style of bat. Collins was a star player for (25) years with the Phila. A's and Chicago White Sox ending his career with over 3,000 hits and a lifetime batting average of .333. Incredibly rare and desirable game used bat from a quality HOF player. See a Picture of this Item 974 Rare "A.M. Draper's Glove Shop" trade sign c.1850-1881. Rectagular pine hanging double sided sign measures 10"x74" with original black and white painted lettering and decor. Sign exhibits typical wear incltaining, border chipping, and is missing 1" on "A.M...." end. Alvah McQueston Draper was born in 1828 and was a member of the Plymouth, NH Draper family who founded the Draper & Maynard Sporting Goods Co. in 1881. Alvah was one of three Draper cousins who were involved in glove manufacturing (All manners of gloves not limited to baseball). Jason Draper was involved in the manufacturing of the gloves while Alvah sold the gloves in the retail shop for which this sign hung on the main street in Plymouth at some point between 1850-1881. Thie 'glove manufacturing' business is what allowed D&M Sporting Goods to advertise a manufacturing history dating to the 1840's. Fascinating piece whith historical relavance to the origins of a very prominent pioneering baseball equipment company: VG ($1,000.00-$1,500.00) $2,700.00

Oversized 8"x53" mounted image of the opening game for the 1910 World Championship played at Shibe Park between the A's and Cubs on October 17, 1910. Photo depicts players on the field with thousands of fans packed into every spot able to be occupied with police guarding the field perimeter seated on wooden crates. Photo itself has some surface soiling and a few scratches all of which would be greatly improved if not eliminated with professional restoration. Mount has varying degrees of chipping to its' edges which have been matted with no affect to the visuals of the image. Identification based on a titled example that we had previously sold which at the time was the only known example.
