Description: 1965 Gale Sayers College All Stars letterman+s sweater. Original white knit sweater as worn by Sayers who was selected for the prestigious 1965 College All Star team. The College All Star team would annually play the NFL champion from the previous season to which they were never able to emerge victorious against the professionals. Sweater retains its original red, white, and blue embroidered patch on the front with -All Stars 1965+ chain stitched onto the front. King O+Shea tagging with size 44 flag tag remains affixed inside the collar. -GS+ printed in black marker inside one jacket pocket. Superb overall condition with very light handling and age toning. Sayers was not permitted to play in the game by coach Otto Graham for fear of re-aggravating a practice injury. Sayers would of course begin his career with the Chicago Bears the following season en route to a legendary Hall of Fame career.
